Our Firm
A Practice Built on Care and Considered Practice
Adil Chambers was founded on a simple belief: that clients navigating family matters deserve counsel that is thorough, honest, and humane — regardless of the complexity of their circumstances.
← Back to HomeHow Adil Chambers Came to Be
Adil Chambers was established in Kuala Lumpur with a particular focus on family law — a field that, more than most areas of legal practice, requires sensitivity alongside skill. The name Adil, meaning fair or just in Malay and Arabic, reflects the disposition we bring to every engagement.
The practice grew from the recognition that clients dealing with divorce, custody concerns, or family property disputes rarely arrive in a neutral state of mind. They come having lost sleep, having had difficult conversations, and carrying questions they are not certain how to ask. Our role begins there — with listening, not with paperwork.
We operate across both civil and Syariah jurisdictions, which sets us apart in a market where many practitioners specialise in only one. Malaysia's legal landscape for family matters involves both streams, and a firm that can advise within either — or across both in complex international matters — is better placed to serve clients with diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
Our office at Wisma E&C in Damansara Heights was chosen deliberately: accessible, professionally situated, and far enough from the bustle of the city centre to feel private. Every detail of how the firm operates is shaped by the same question — what does the client need in order to feel steady enough to make informed decisions?
Our Mission
"To offer family law counsel that is as careful with the person as it is with the matter — measured in approach, clear in communication, and steadfast in service."
Our Values
- Dignity — Every client is treated with respect, whatever the nature of their matter.
- Clarity — Legal advice should be understandable, not impressive-sounding.
- Candour — We share our honest assessment, even when the picture is not simple.
- Restraint — Adversarial proceedings are a tool of last resort, not a default.
The People You Will Work With
Our practitioners bring complementary expertise across civil and Syariah family law, and share a common commitment to the considered handling of each matter.

How We Uphold Quality
Our practice standards are shaped by the professional and ethical demands of family law, and by our own expectations of what a reliable legal practice looks like.
Bar Council Membership
All practitioners are members in good standing of the Malaysian Bar and adhere to the Legal Profession Act 1976 and the Bar Council's Rules and Rulings.
Client Confidentiality Protocol
Beyond legal privilege, we maintain internal confidentiality protocols governing how client information is stored, accessed, and handled throughout and after an engagement.
Syariah Advisory Compliance
Our Syariah practitioners comply with the applicable state Syariah courts' practice directions and maintain current knowledge of jurisdiction-specific procedural requirements across Malaysian states.
Continuing Professional Development
Every practitioner fulfils annual CPD requirements and attends family law-specific updates, including amendments to the Law Reform (Marriage & Divorce) Act and Islamic Family Law enactments.
Mediation-First Approach
Where appropriate, we encourage mediation before or during proceedings. Several of our practitioners hold mediation accreditations and are familiar with the Mediation Act 2012.
Personal Data Protection
Client data is handled in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). We do not share, sell, or process personal data beyond the scope of your legal matter.
Family Law in Malaysia: Experience That Matters
Family law in Malaysia sits at the intersection of two distinct legal systems — the civil courts governed by federal legislation, and the Syariah courts administered at the state level. Navigating either system requires not only legal knowledge but an understanding of how courts and tribunals in practice approach contested matters, assess evidence, and weigh competing interests.
At Adil Chambers, we advise clients on dissolution of civil marriages under the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976, including judicial separation, maintenance orders, and custody arrangements. For Muslim clients, our Syariah-qualified practitioners advise on talak, khul', fasakh, and hadhanah matters within the applicable state Islamic Family Law Enactment, coordinating where needed across multiple jurisdictions.
Matrimonial property questions — particularly in cases where assets were accumulated over long marriages or where business interests are involved — require a practitioner who understands both the legal framework and the practical reality of financial disclosure in court proceedings. We approach such matters methodically, working with qualified valuers and financial advisers where the complexity calls for it.
Our location in Kuala Lumpur places us within reach of clients from across the Klang Valley, and we also assist clients based internationally who have family matters requiring representation before Malaysian courts.
